Fort Pierce Church
ABOUT FORT PIERCE CHURCH

A Note from the Pastor

In an effort to take our discipleship at Fort Pierce Church to a new level, we have started a number of new outreach and “inreach” ministries. Our newest inreach ministry has been to revamp our church membership class into a membership and discipleship course. Using the church board and Small Group teachers as the catalyst, our first session had 51 attendees. The course itself is divided into four parts. Much like college prerequisites, one cannot participate in any of the courses without taking the one previous. Each course has its own separate theme: 101, The Church Member; 201, The Member’s Maturity; 301, The Member’s Ministry; and 401, The Member’s Mission. 101 will be coming up again on May 31st and 201 will be offered on July 12th. Check the online calendar for the times.

God seems to be bringing forth a new generation of followers at FPC. My wife, Sharon Joy and I recently celebrated our 11th anniversary in Fort Pierce and noticed that nearly seventy-five percent of the congregation wasn’t in attendance when we first began. Currently, the average age of the congregation is approximately 44 years old. This tells me that God is training up new hearts to build His kingdom. Even in the midst of a world made up of economic tension and unknowingness, God is still on His throne and I remain excited to see what He has in mind for both our current members and our new faces as well.

I’ll be looking for you Sunday!

Love,

FPC STAFF:

Senior Pastor – Rev. Ted Underwood
pastorted@fortpiercechurch.com

Pastor Ted and his wife, Sharon Joy, had been layman youth leaders for eighteen years when God called him to full time ministry. He moved his family to Wichita, Kansas to study for his ordination while working at one of the largest churches in the Nazarene denomination under the leadership of longtime friend and mentor Dr. Gene Williams. He then returned to South Florida as Pastor to Families with Youth at the church where he grew up. Pastor Ted has been the Senior Pastor at FPC since 1998. He and Sharon Joy have two sons with two beautiful daughters-in-law: Jamey & Suzanna and Jody & Roxanne.

Our Mission:
Experiencing and showing God's Love.
Learning and sharing God's Word.

Beliefs:
As part of the International Church of the Nazarene, Fort Pierce Church has a:

Creed: All mankind has a native sinful nature that only the saving grace of Jesus Christ, through His atoning death on Calvary, can redeem.

Discipline: To avoid evil of any kind, shun worldliness in every form, and be gentle to all men.

Hope: An expectant return of their Lord. A confidence that those alive and abiding in Him and those asleep in Christ Jesus will be caught up to meet their Lord in the air and live with Him forever.

Heart: A calling for evangelistic outreach by giving both time and monies to not only to their community, but also to the world.

Mission: Experiencing and showing God's love.  Learning and sharing God's word.
